About

GHG Accounting · Climate Disclosure · Net Zero Strategy · San Francisco Bay Area

I help companies build GHG inventories and climate disclosures that hold up to auditors, regulators, and investors.

Hi, I’m Kerri

I'm the founder of KS Consulting. I started my career as a wildlife biologist, tracking endangered species in the field and managing compliance under the Clean Water Act, ESA, CEQA, and NEPA. Along the way I reviewed 50+ environmental impact assessments and helped protect more than 1,000 acres of habitat.

Today I bring that same field rigor to carbon accounting. I build Scope 1 to 3 inventories, prepare companies for California's SB 253 and SB 261, and turn net zero goals into plans people can actually fund and follow.

If your team is facing its first disclosure deadline, or your current numbers wouldn't survive an assurance review, let's talk.

On Track? Emissions vs Targets

Outcome: An interactive climate dashboard that answers one question: are the world's biggest emitters actually on track? Two honest lenses. Absolute emissions against the IPCC 1.5°C and well-below-2°C paths, and each country's carbon intensity against the target it actually set, plus a carbon-budget burndown. The headline read: the world is not on track. Emissions are still climbing past 50 Gt while the 1.5°C path calls for a steep fall, and at today's rate the 1.5°C budget runs out in about four years.

Tools/Methods: Tableau Public, a Python annual-refresh pipeline (pandas), Our World in Data and the Global Carbon Project, World Bank PPP GDP, IPCC AR6 pathways, Global Carbon Budget 2025, Climate Action Tracker ratings.

Climate Disclosure & CSRD Readiness (Salesforce)

Outcome: Conducted a CSRD and IFRS S1/S2 readiness review of Salesforce's FY2025 sustainability report. Identified 4 critical disclosure gaps: (1) offset reliance misaligned with SBTi Net Zero Standard, (2) climate risk not quantified in financial terms as required under IFRS S1/S2, (3) supplier engagement at only 33% vs. a 60% target, undermining Scope 3 accuracy, and (4) insufficient assurance controls for audit-level reporting.

Tools/Methods: CSRD double materiality review, IFRS S1/S2 alignment check, SBTi Net Zero Standard assessment, gap analysis, executive-ready slide synthesis

Consumer Goods Manufacturer: GHG Inventory & Decarbonization Case Study

Part 1 — GHG Inventory: Built a complete Scope 1-3 GHG inventory for a specialty food manufacturer using activity data and GHG Protocol-aligned emissions factors. Total footprint: 6,721.25 tCO2e. Identified three primary hotspots: purchased agricultural inputs (4,100.27 tCO2e, driven by peanut sourcing), facility electricity (1,220.95 tCO2e), and upstream transportation (853.15 tCO2e). Delivered a three-phase decarbonization roadmap covering renewable electricity procurement, supplier LCA, and logistics optimization.

Part 2 — Data Gap Analysis: Conducted a Scope 1-2 data gap assessment and built a structured Excel data collection template to support inventory intake workflows for similar manufacturing engagements.

Tools/Methods: GHG Protocol, activity-based calculations, eGRID/EPA emissions factors, Google Sheets, Excel, decarbonization strategy

Artifact: Nutty Nirvana GHG Inventory

Atlassian FY25 ESG Gap Analysis

Outcome: Analyzed Atlassian's FY25 Sustainability Report against CSRD, IFRS S1/S2, California climate law (SB 253/261), and ASRS (Australia). Identified 4 critical gaps: (1) California SB 253, SB 261, and AB 1305 not addressed despite significant California operations, (2) AI and data center emissions flagged as a major issue but unquantified, (3) water and biodiversity metrics entirely absent, and (4) no XBRL or digital tagging despite CSRD digital reporting requirements. Noted that Atlassian achieved an 82% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 100% renewable electricity, but remains in voluntary-to-regulatory transition.

Tools/Methods: CSRD/ESRS gap assessment, IFRS S1/S2 alignment, California climate law review (SB 253/261, AB 1305), ASRS analysis, SASB Software & IT Services Standard, XBRL digital reporting review
